Regrettably, the Jamaican people have spoken, and for many, it’s a bitter pill to swallow. The hope for a significant change for the better has been deferred, as they’ve chosen to endure another five years of what they perceive as a corrupt reign under Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

For many Jamaicans, Andrew Holness is a recurring nightmare. However, on September 3rd, they missed the chance to usher in a new era. The rejection of opposition leader Mark Golding, who symbolized hope and promise for many, is a missed opportunity that’s deeply felt.

Some circles have dubbed Prime Minister Holness “ODB,” the Old Dirty Bastard. It’s a fitting title for a leader who earns a staggering J$28,587,983 annually while the average Jamaican struggles to make ends meet. During a recent presidential debate, Mark Golding pointed out that Andrew Holness has 24 bank accounts.

Holness Denies Being Corrupt.

The scrutiny of Prime Minister Holness, dubbed ‘ODB’ by some, continues. Allegations of corruption cast a shadow over his leadership, leaving many Jamaicans with lingering doubts and concerns.

For many Jamaicans, Andrew Holness is a recurring nightmare. However, on September 3rd, they missed the chance to usher in a new era. Jamaicans have rejected opposition leader Mark Golding as their guide into the next phase of their journey, filled with hope and promise.

Some circles have dubbed Prime Minister Holness.

ODB / the Old Dirty Bastard. It’s a fitting title for a leader who earns a staggering J$28,587,983 annually (approximately $ 181,162.13 United States Dollars) while the average Jamaican struggles to make ends meet. During a recent presidential debate, Mark Golding pointed out that Andrew Holness has 24 bank accounts. Typically, having multiple bank accounts is a means to launder and conceal money.

The ODB Holness has come under scrutiny for allegations of corruption. Looking at Andrew Holness, many Jamaicans are saying, ‘I have never seen corruption, but I know it when I see it.’ And they’re seeing it in Andrew Holness. Mark Golding, Leader of the PNP (People’s National Party) lost to the JLP (Jamaica Labor Party) incumbent Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

The Prime Minister Investigated Himself And Found No Corruption.

Holness denied being a corrupt politician. “I have been investigated for a year with an expert forensic auditor. The findings of that report have suggested no corruption. There have been no charges. Every aspect of my report, every aspect of my personal life, and my personal financial details are in the public domain.”
Yet Holness cannot explain where he’s getting the money to purchase several multi-million-dollar properties. Nor who is funding his 24 bank accounts. Andrew Holness and his cohorts investigated themselves and found no corruption.
Holness continues to accumulate wealth, while most Jamaicans struggle to make ends meet.

Mark Golding, a non-native Jamaican?

While on the campaign trail, Andrew Holness made a futile effort to brand Mark Golding a non-native Jamaican.

MP Golding produced a birth certificate as proof that he was born in Jamaica. This accusation was a Trump-style branding tactic, used against Barack Obama. It did not work for Trump, but it worked for Andrew Holness.

Fact: Golding’s father was a medical doctor born in Britain. Holness’s party, the PNP, also made light of the fact that Mark Golding was a carpetbagger. They pointed out that Golding did not own any properties in Jamaica.

The race factor reared its head.

The Holness camp attempted unsuccessfully to make race a qualifying factor for the prime minister. Mark Golding, who is of white British ancestry, would not have been the first white man to become the Prime Minister of Jamaica.

In 1980, Edward Seaga, the fifth prime minister of Jamaica, was also a white man of Lebanese descent. Former Prime Minister Edward Seaga was born in Boston, Massachusetts. The Harvard-educated Seaga would later renounce his United States citizenship. Seaga was born in the United States and died in the United States in Miami, Florida.

Like Edward Seaga, Andrew Holness also received his education in the United States, at Northeastern University. Ironically, as reported by the Chicago Tribune, on the same day Holness won a 3rd term, the President of Northwestern (Michael Schill) was forced to resign. The Trump Administration claims Michael Schill did not do enough to combat anti-semitism on campus.

It’s unclear whether Mark Golding was rejected because he is Jewish.

While some people believe Andrew Holness, like Edward Seaga, is a Manchurian prime minister, they haven’t presented concrete evidence.

He said, “In our second term, we created momentum. We are on the right path, heading in the right direction with the right trajectory. That should not be broken, and the Jamaican people share that view. Therefore, we will continue to use the momentum to speed up the development of our country.”

The shake-down of the Jamaican people continues.
