The family of two nineteen-year-old twin boys found shot dead are in a state of disbelief and are vehemently disputing the authorities’ claim of a murder-suicide. Hikers discovered the bodies of Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis near the top of Bell Mountain in the state of Georgia.

Meanwhile, 42-year-old Scott Kerlin, of Hiawassee, Georgia, a volunteer firefighter, has been arrested on misdemeanor charges in connection to sharing online photos of the dead bodies of the boys. This arrest has sparked a wave of shock and disbelief in the local community.

Bell Mountain is about 90 miles from where the Lewis twins lived. “Investigators are still seeking answers on how Kerlin gained access and shared photos of the scene.”

Family members became suspicious when the boys missed their flight to Boston to meet some friends. While the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s continues its claim that “their deaths resulted from a murder-suicide,” the Lewis boys’ loved ones vehemently contradict that version of event. They said the boys were inseparable, rarely fought, and unfamiliar with the mountain range.

“How did they end up out in the mountains? They don’t hike out there; they’ve never been out there,” Samira Brawner, an aunt of the twins, shared with NBC affiliate WXIA of Atlanta. “They don’t know anything about Hiawassee, Georgia. They never even heard of Bell Mountain, so how did they end up right there?” The family’s confusion adds to the mystery of the case.

Investigators have yet to reveal if the young men had a mutual girlfriend with whom they may have disagreed about sharing.
