U.S. Representative Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
A modern-day carpetbagger comes to town to raid the House Seat for Florida’s 20th Congressional District.
At least eight other candidates are running for Florida’s 20th U.S. House seat.
The lazy and cunning move by Wasserman-Schultz to block African Americans from fair representation in Congress brings to mind the concept of taxation without representation.
Because of redistricting, Wasserman-Schultz’s congressional seat in District 25 has been relegated to a more right-leaning voting bloc.
So instead of running in District 25, Wasserman-Schultz, like a sly fox and greedy carpetbagger, has chosen to raid a Black hen house.
She considers it the least-resistance path.
However, some of the other eight District 20 candidates are pushing back against her.

What does it say about Wasserman-Schultz to have left her District 25 to raid what is considered a mostly African American District?
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is saying that Black people are not qualified to represent themselves.
Florida Gov Ron DeSantis’ redistricting ploy caused Wasserman-Schultz to scamper over to District 20.
FL Congressional District 20, a Seat, represents an urban-suburban mix of 795,000 residents.
Fifty percent of Florida District 20 voters are Black, and 18% are Latino; the rest are Non-Latino White and “others.”

Can a white person represent African Americans in Congress?
Of course, a white person can represent Black people in Congress. It happens every day.
Most African Americans don’t think that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz could or would attempt to represent them fairly.
Wasserman-Schultz has a twisted agenda, and Black people aren’t a part of her agenda.
For Wasserman-Schultz, it is immaterial whether African Americans have fair representation in Congress.
According to Debbie Wasserman Schultz, “This District deserves a representative who won’t be learning on the job and has a proven record of results.”
If political experience were the sole criterion for representing a district, then Dale Holness would be the top contender.
Holness has been a City of Lauderhill Commissioner, a Broward County Commissioner, and a rotating selected Mayor.
Not unlike Cherfilus McCormick, Holness says he wants to make housing a priority for low- to middle-income families.
“We must ensure that those who labor and generate profit for these major corporations also share in it,” Holness said.

Former Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has experience as a Representative for Florida District 20.
Since her 4-year stint in Congress, Cherfilus-McCormick has focused on affordable housing for some of her constituents.
Former Rapper, turned community activist Luther Campbell has also thrown his hat into the ring.
Campbell said, “By building affordable housing ‘in the Black community,’ that would create more jobs.”
School teacher Elijah Manley, the youngest of the candidates, wants to focus on health care. Manley says people are tired of political corruption. He says people are looking for a fresh start.
Elijah Manley is 27 years old.
If Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick wins back her old seat, it is not clear whether she would have a chance to return to Congress. Her federal criminal trial is scheduled for February 2027.
Although unlikely, Cherfilus could serve up to 53 years in prison if she’s convicted.
The theme among all five democratic candates seems to be housing affordability.
Candidate Elijah Manley has also posited that, as a child, he once became homeless.
The Republicans
Businessman Bret Anderson would be better off running in District 25, the seat that Wasserman-Schultz abandoned to encroach on District 20.
Anderson’s chance of winning the District 20 seat is next to nil.
And like Anderson, ditto goes for Republicans Rod Joseph and Carla Spalding.
They’re not playing with a full deck of cards if they believe for one minute that they could win the District 20 seat.
Of the 28 Congressional seats allocated to represent Florida based on population data from the 2020 Census, four are African American or Black.
And three of the four Florida seats are vacant or nearly vacant.
- Republican Representative Byron Donalds (District 19) is running for Governor of Florida. His seat is nearly vacant.
- Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick’s (District 20) seat is vacant as of April 2026. Cherfilus-McCormick resigned after her indictment on fraud charges. She resigned rather than be expelled from the U.S. House of Representatives. Cherfilus-McCormick is running for her old seat.’
- On May 29, 2026, Frederica Wilson (District 24, FL) announced that she is retiring and will leave office at the end of her current term on January 3, 2027. She is not seeking reelection. For 16 years, Wilson represented Florida’s Districts 17 and 24 th. Her seat could fall to anyone.
- Maxwell Frost (District 10). Frost has been serving since former Representative Val Demings looked into the water, saw her reflection, and dropped her bone for the one reflected in the water.
- In 2024, former Senator Marco Rubio handily beat Val Demings for his Senate seat.
