Washington Post: Oligarchy Lives In Darkness — Jeff Bezos.

The owner of the Washington Post, Jeff Bezos, put a hammer and a sickle to a third of its staff. Bezos has concluded that democracy thrives in the dark.

He’s slashed over 300 workers from his payroll. In so many words, the multi-billionaire told his workers to get the eff out. Find another way to pay your rent. Find another way to buy food to feed your children.

Instead of eating one steak for dinner, Bezos wants to eat three cows at a time. When Bezos leaves the restaurant, he wants to hoard 10 extra pies in his pockets that he cannot eat.

When he gets home, the moths and worms will eat the pies. The moths that live in darkness will eat out the pockets of his tuxedos. Bezos has left myriads of Croner Stones lurching.

Will Lewis, the Hatchet Man.

About thirteen years ago (2013), Jeff Bezos purchased the Washington Post for $250 million in cash.

In 2013, Bezos’ net worth was $25 Billion. Today, Bezos has an estimated net worth of $235 billion — even after paying his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, $36 billion in a divorce settlement.

In the early 2020s, the Washington Post (WAPO) failed to make a profit.

As a businessman, Jeff Bezos has the right to hire and fire as he sees fit. In 2023 and 2024, the Washington Post lost $77 million and roughly $100 million, respectively.

To stop the financial bleeding, Jeff Bezos hired William (Will) Lewis as the publisher of the Washington Post on January 2, 2024. Many staffers suspected Lewis was hired as a hatchet man.

Two days after Will Lewis pulled his slashing job, he ran for the border, perhaps with millions in a Swiss bank account. Or could Bezos have tired of his terrible advice?

Washington Post Early Print

Will Lewis’ British accent charmed some staffers. He had them eating out of his hand. Now, they’re eating wind. Will Lewis is a right-wing “newspaper” man. Lewis headed several right-wing publications, including The Daily Telegraph, The Wall Street Journal, and News Corp, before joining the WAPO.

Admittedly, of late, the Wall Street Journal has made attempts at becoming a trustworthy news source not just amongst right-wingers.

The Washington Post (WAPO)

Jeff Bezos hired Will Lewis as a hatchet man to cull the herd of what he thought were staffers who were leaning politically left.

When a publication, such as the Washington Post, that started as a voice of the Ku Klux Klan, corrects itself by moving to the center of the right, in the minds of those blinded by the fire of burning crosses, the publication has gone politically left.

In 1877, Stilson Hutchins founded the Washington Post as a voice for the Democratic Party.

History credits the publication as ‘the catalyst for the Washington, D.C., 1919 race riots’ that caused the death of many Black and white Americans.

The Washington Post became the forerunner of The Fiery Cross, published by the United Klans of America.

Is The Washington Post Owner A Chazzer?

Some are questioning the motives of Jeff Bozos’ for bringing in hatchet man Will Lewis to gut the Washington Post.

In October 2024, during the heat of the 2024 Presidential campaign, Bezos blocked the editorial board’s endorsement of then-candidate Kamala Harris.

To justify his decision, Bezos ordered someone to write an opinion piece in his (Bozos’) name, stating that “presidential endorsements are ineffective, do not sway voters, and create a perception of bias.” That is a fair statement.

However, once Jeff Bezos started living under the bed of President Trump, his previous claim of bias heightened perceptions of bias in the opposite direction.

The perception created is that Jeff Bezos is a chazzer.

“Do you know what a chazzer is, Frank? That’s a pig that doesn’t fly straight.” — Tony Montana.

‘Every dog has its day.’ There was a time when the Washington Post was the premium newspaper.

It had celebrated journalists such as Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward. The Washington Post had Deep Throat.

And we are not talking about Monica Lewinsky.

The Washington Post was the impetus of President Richard Nixon’s resignation, not Bill Clinton’s. That is the right of a president.

The mammoth ship known as the Washington Post began taking on more water when Bezos agreed with Will Lewis to slash the endorsement of DEI candidate Kamala Harris.
Hundreds of thousands of readers canceled their Post subscriptions. Several Washington Post staff members also resigned in protest. Will Lewis thought that moving the publication back to the right would gain Fox News audience.
That was a fail. Bezos and Lewis did not consider that most of the Fox News audience watches television—they’re not readers. Reading broadens the mind.

Reading is becoming a lost art. As more Americans’ minds narrow, so will growth and, to a degree, also innovation.

Some journalists who oppose Bezos’ decision to gut the Washington Post say he is doing so to curry favor with President Trump.
They’re claiming that Bezos wants to get government contracts to build rockets take them to the moon.
The fact is, they will never colonize the moon. That is a pipe dream. That is garbage. That is an egotistical fancy.

Ego can cloud your judgment. There are Elemental Beings in place to prevent such colonization.
Thus far, the stewards of planet Earth haven’t done a very good job of colonizing it.

“You see men sailing on their ego trips / Blast off on their spaceships.
Million miles from reality / No care for you, no care for me
So much trouble in the world.” — Robert Nesta Marley.
Ego can be a good thing when utilized properly.
