President Trump, in a roundabout kinda way, wants to hang six high Congressional Democrats. If the President had his way, he would send Senator Mark Kelly on a permanent trip to the moon. He also wishes to send five other Democratic lawmakers to swim with the fishes, wearing cement boots.
The blowup between Trump and the six Democratic lawmakers stems from a video they posted, in which they said they would refuse ‘unlawful’ orders. In President Trump’s view, the lawmakers are instructing members of the military to disobey his orders.
According to the President, “This is really bad, and dangerous to our Country.” Trump was careful to frame his statement in the form of a question. “LOCK THEM UP???,” he wrote on Truth Social.
The six potentially ‘seditious’ lawmakers have all served in the military or the intelligence community. On Tuesday, Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin posted the video online.
Appearing in the video with Sen. Slotkin are Arizona Senator Mark Kelly and Representatives Chris DeLuzio of Pennsylvania, Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire, Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, and Jason Crow of Colorado.
In the video, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona said, “Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders.” Kelly served in the Navy and is a former astronaut.
“No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our constitution,” Senators Slotkin and Maggie Goodlander implored the military. To those words, Trump said, “Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???”
Whenever one joins the military or gets promoted, they swear to this. I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. President Trump couched his response to the video as a question, and the Democrats couched their statements in a basket of vagaries.
