Texas Flood Tragedy Upon Tragedy: Politicians Play Politics.

Local politicians in Texas and politicians on the federal level are using a tragedy to score political points.

The Texas flash flood tragedy continues to unfold, with the death toll climbing to 115 or more. As families of the flood victims grapple with their losses and seek answers in the aftermath of a ‘100 year flood,’ a term used to describe a flood that has a 1% chance of occurring in any given year, the true extent of the tragedy becomes painfully clear. The early morning July 4th flood struck almost without warning, adding to the shock and devastation.

This was not a Noah’s Ark Flood, where people had ample time to prepare. This was a sudden, severe, and life-threatening event that unfolded within forty minutes in the dead of night, catching many off guard. The water levels rose almost forty feet, further escalating the danger and panic.

Instead of taking responsibility, officials and public figures engaged in a blame game. The Kerr County Emergency Alert Officer, dubbed ‘Huckleberry Finn,’ failed to issue a warning that could have saved lives. Others, including television personalities and even President Trump, attempted to shift the blame to others. This lack of accountability is a slap in the face of the victims and their families.

When a reporter questioned Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha about who was at the County Emergency Alert Officer position during the flood? Sheriff Larry Leitha could not answer the question. Some talking heads report that the Alert Officer accepted a DOGE early retirement offer. Thus, the position was vacant when the emergency occurred.

Partisan Politicians Spread Partisan Bullshit.

The flood caught many people by surprise. In Kerr County, where over eighty residents lost their lives, most elected officials were caught with their pants down.

The mayor of Kerrville, Joe (crocodile tears) Herring, claims the local officials “didn’t even have a warning.Mayor Herring told CNN’s Pamela Brown. That’s his story, and he’s sticking to it. No one got a warning of the pending doom. He appears to be lying through his teeth.

It’s more likely that the officials got the warnings in the middle of the night and ignored them.

After all, the area is known as ‘Flash Flood Alley.’ Folks get weather alerts all the time. After a while, you tend to ignore them. The alerts become the ‘Boy who cried wolf.’

Hopefully, the July 4 central Texas flooding serves as a wake-up call to other local government officials.
