A man (or woman) who believed in violence as a solution to every disagreement abruptly shot and killed Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA. The attack occurred just twenty minutes into his speech at Utah Valley University (UVU), catching everyone off guard. Authorities have not disclosed whether Kirk and the shooter knew each other. Over the past 220 years, political violence has become more frequent. Even the rancid Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, has said as much, reported by Politico.
Witnesses on the scene described a man they believed to be the shooter as an ‘older’ man with gray hair. However, the authorities cautioned the shooter might still be at large, adding a sense of urgency and concern to the situation.
There are reports that the bullet hit Kirk on the left side of his neck.
His bodyguards quickly surrounded him and took him off the stage. He was taken to an area hospital, where he died two hours later.
Kirk had just started his American Comeback Tour, a series of speeches and events aimed at reviving American conservative values, when tragedy struck. At the time of the 2:30 p.m. incident, Charlie Kirk was in the middle of answering a question about transgender mass shooters. Kirk is known as a Second Amendment absolutist — which is his right to be.
Authorities are questioning the alleged shooter, who has been described as an older man with gray hair, to determine a motive for the violence. To many in the Black community, Kirk is viewed as a new version of Alabama Governor George Wallace. Kirk was born in and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.
At age 18, Kirk co-founded the ‘conservative’ organization, Turning Point USA, with his mentor William Montgomery. In 2020, Montgomery died of COVID-19. He was 80 years old. Charlie Kirk went on to grow Turning Point USA into a highly successful media business, with revenues exceeding $81 million in 2023.
