FSU Student Shoot to Kill. 2 Dead

The all too common incident is Sending Shockwaves Through The Community. A 20-year-old Florida State University (FSU) student named Phoenix Ikner opened fire on visitors and fellow students today on campus. According to Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil, the shooter is the son of one of his current deputies.

The 20-year-old shooter used his mother’s previous service weapon to kill at least two campus visitors. However, the swift response of the police ‘neutralized’ him, ensuring the safety of the campus.

Florida State University, 222 S Copeland St, Tallahassee, FL 32306, is a bustling campus with about 34,000 undergraduate students. FUS’s sprawling campus is situated on nearly 500 acres; this tragic incident shattered a typical day.

According to NBC News, a hospital spokesperson confirmed that at least six people are receiving treatment at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. Tallahassee Chief of Police advised that nine people total have been shot, including the gunman. Phoenix Ilner is a member of FSU’s Youth Advisory Council.
A female student described the scene as horrific. She told an ABC News reporter that one person was transported to the hospital with his arm cut off. Another witness described the shooter as a young male with a beard.

FSU’s president, Richard McCullough, announced that while the incident is under control, the campus will remain closed through Sunday
