Jamaica proudly celebrates its 63rd Independence with the Mayor of Lauderhill, Denise Grant, giving two keys to the City to Sizzla Bologna, aka Baloney.
On Sunday, August 3rd, several hundred Jamaicans celebrated Jamaica’s “Independence” from the United Kingdom in the City of Lauderhill.
Yes, it’s been sixty-three years since the leaders of yesteryear, in a historic moment, pled with Britannia for their ‘Independence. And the British overlords agreed. Come August 6th, the island nation will officially celebrate its 63rd birthday.
Jamaica, a diverse nation, remains a member of the British Commonwealth. Lately, there has been a cry from some Jamaicans to sever ties with the British Empire. This new demand reflects the range of perspectives within the Jamaican community.
There is some justification for severing ties with Britain. Anger and resentment are boiling over after the ‘Icelandic’ nation forced thousands of Windrush Jamaicans back to their homeland. Charles and his cohorts deported the Windrush residents after they helped to save Britain from sinking into the abyss of poverty.
If Jamaica cut ties with the UK, the corrupt politicians would be forced to become more of a super-dependent nation. Its dependence on the largess of private bankers such as Bill Gates would deepen. The Unholiness corruption would spiral further out of control. The people would suffer more under what’s shaping up as a mini-dictatorship.
The Fat Lady Can Sing.
Most of the artists, although unknown to me, displayed a modicum of talent. The show dragged on until Admiral Tibet came on stage. This was my first time hearing of the fake admiral. I found his performance lively. The ‘Admiral’ was followed by the Fat Lady, aka Etana. And the fat lady can sing. She had an excellent Sax player, and she allowed him to highlight his talent. Kudos. The truth be told, once the fat lady sang, the show was over.
Over-run Timeline of 1800-2300 Hours.
Etana, who was born Shauna Gaye Melissa McKenzie, has a beautiful voice. However, she overstayed her welcome.
Etana performed for 55 minutes. After about minutes of her near Top 40 show, most sensible guests wanted her gone. Fortunately for her, no one in the audience had eggs and rotten tomatoes. By the time she ended her set at 2258 hours, people started trickling out of the venue.
We Digress: Back To Sizzla Bologna.
After being given a Key to the City of Lauderhill, Sizzla Bolonga went on to insult his hosts. One would have thought he was given the Key to America. Guests who are invited to my house are permitted to ridicule, make fun of, and tell jokes.
What my house guests will not do is deride and flagrantly criticize. We would politely ask them to leave. And we would promptly revoke their invitation.
By the time the headline act (Sizzla) came on stage to perform, it was 2330. He’s very energetic for about two minutes. Then he fizzled and started preaching.
Sizzla, Don’t Preach. Shut Up And Dance.
Shut up, and entertain. Sing, dance, and shake. No one paid to hear you preach your siloed ceremony about Emperor Haile Selassie being god. There is a time and a place for everything. About eight minutes into his set, we left in the middle of one of his religious ceremonies.
It’s Sunday, people have to get up and go to work the next day. It’s not everyone who wakes up on Monday morning, lollygags, and smokes weed.
