Joshua Dean, a second Boeing whistle blower, has died just fifty-three days apart. On March 9, 62-year-old John Barnett died from a gunshot wound to his head. Barnett was sitting in his pickup truck in a parking lot.
The authorities have ruled his death as a suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. John Barnett was in a deposition in Charleston, South Carolina. Barnett would have testified in a whistle blower lawsuit filed against The Boeing Company. Barnett worked as a Boeing Quality Manager from 1885 to 2017.
Barnett lodged his concerns to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about the “safety of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner commercial aircraft.”
Fifty-three days after John Barnett’s sudden death, forty-five-year-old Joshua Dean, another Boeing whistleblower, has died — suddenly. Joshua Dean worked at Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems. Dean worked as a quality auditor. Joshua Dean made allegations against Spirit’s upper management, claiming they ignored manufacturing defects on the 737 MAX.
The Boeing 737 MAX passenger airliner was grounded worldwide between March 2019 and December 2020 – longer in many jurisdictions – after 346 people died in two similar crashes: Lion Air Flight 610 on October 29, 2018, and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 on March 10, 2019. Dean fell ill suddenly and died after two weeks in critical condition in a Wichita, Kansas hospital. Ms. Parson said he was in good health and lived a healthy lifestyle. Joshua Dean also filed a whistleblower complaint with the FAA. The same law firm that represented John Barnett was representing Joshua Dean.
