President-elect Donald Trump is beginning to fold like a cheap $5 lawn chair. The former President is trying to work out a quid pro quo deal to replace Pete Hegseth with his former rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. DeSantis, a two-term governor, will finish his second term in 2026.
Fox News host Pete Hegseth has been heavily scrutinized since his November 13th forthcoming nomination as U.S. Secretary of Defense.
Pete Hegseth has come under attack from even the woman who gave birth to him. “I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his power and ego,” Penelope Hegseth wrote in a 2018 email.
Hegseth, a former former Army National Guard officer, has a penchant for embracing White supremacy, as is all Fox News horses. The entire stable of horses at Fox News, except two hosts, are wanton bigots.
Trump has suggested that DeSantis appoint Lara Trump to fill Florida Senator Lil Marco Rubio’s Senate seat. Lara Trump is married to the President-elect’s son, Eric Trump. Since March 2023, Lara Trump has co-chaired the Republican National Committee–after Rona Romney-McDaniels was forced out.
The appointment of DeSantis, who has been feeding at the trough for most of his life, would provide job security for two additional years. DeSantis was on his way to becoming President until he lost his way. DeSantis needed a national, sound political platform. He could not formulate one.
His platform was to attack African Americans. DeSantis’ strategy works well with toothless rednecks in Central and North Florida and Johnny-come-lately Lil Marco Rubio Mexicans in Miami. The DeSantis presidential platform could have been a more non-formidable national political strategy.
A Win-Win For Trump And JD Vance
With Ron DeSantis as Secretary of Defense, he would be less likely to challenge Trump’s Vice President, JD Vance, come 2028. Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, gets a free ride to the Senate. Similarly, Kamala Harris made her to the Democratic Presidential nomination.
Replacing Hegseth would mark the second time in less than a month that the President-elect has folded under pressure based on one of his forthcoming nominations. Last month, former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz was forced from his nomination to lead the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Trump might face other uphill battles with forthcoming Cabinet nominees, such as Kash Patel for FBI director and former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. The search for choir boys and girls continues.
