LOS ANGELES (AP) — “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” struck the top box office target.

The Lionsgate’s film starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek brought in $11.6 million domestically to claim the No. 1 spot in its debut. The action-comedy — which appeared in 3,331 locations — is the follow up the 2017 breakout hit “The Hitman’s Bodyguard.”

The “Hitman” sequel notched “A Quiet Place Part II,” which took hold of the second spot in its fourth weekend of release. The Paramount horror-thriller, which stars Emily Blunt and was directed by John Krasinski, earned $9.4 million. The film became the first of the pandemic era to reach $100 million domestically.

This weekend, “Godzilla vs. Kong” became the second movie of the pandemic to cross $100 million. The film has garnered more $442.5 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, the Jon M. Chu-directed “In the Heights” continued to struggle. The adaption of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway musical dropped a few slots to sixth this weekend.

The Warner Bros. film earned more than $4.2 million, a 63% drop from the previous week. The critically-acclaimed musical film has recently been called out for its lack of dark-skinned, Black Latinos in leading roles.

However, Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Comscore, believes the movie fell victim to lofty expectations. He said musicals often take a while to develop an audience.

“There were so many things going on with this film,” Dergarabedian said. “There were very high expectations when it opened last weekend. And because of the strong reviews, I think there were some overblown expectations. With the big projections, people were emotionally tied to the movie. The box office projections were overblown. That set unrealistic expectations.”

“Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway” placed third in the box office with $6.1 million, while “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” claimed the fourth spot with $5.15 million. It barely edged the Emma Stone-led “Cruella,” which came in fifth with $5.1 million.

“Spirit Untamed,” “12 Mighty Orphans,” “The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2” and “Wrath of Man” rounded out the top 10.

Dergarabedian expects a big weekend for Universal Pictures’ “Fast and Furious” new installment “F9,” which releases in domestic theaters June 25. The film starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster has already earned nearly $300 million internationally.

“This is about winning over audiences who watched a lot of content on the small screen,” he said. “Now, they will be able to see a movie that has been long delayed but is tailor-made for the big screen and that theater communal experience. Escapism will be the watchword when it comes to Furious 9.”

Florida Governor Threatens to Sue the CDC If Its Conditional Sail Order Is Not Lifted Soon.

As temperatures rise, signaling the approach of summer, tensions between the state of Florida and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are also heating up. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has threatened to sue the CDC if it doesn’t lift its “conditional sailing order” on cruise ships in time for them to resume sailing out of U.S. ports this summer.

On Friday, March 26, DeSantis made this declaration at Port Canaveral as he gathered with executives from several major cruise lines, including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Disney Cruise Line.

With three major cruise ports in Florida, millions of travelers pass through the Sunshine State specifically to board a cruise ship. Most sailings to the Bahamas, Caribbean, or Mexico start their journeys in either Miami, Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades, or Port Canaveral.

According to The Points Guy, Ashley Moody, Florida’s attorney general, also attended this meeting and is rumored to be exploring the state’s legal options ahead of this potential lawsuit against the CDC.

Gov. DeSantis wants to resume sailing before cruising season to prevent more revenue losses as several major companies such as Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Crystal Cruises have already announced plans to sail out of Bahamian and Caribbean ports this summer.

Currently, the CDC has a conditional sail order in place, which outlines several benchmarks that cruise lines must meet before they are allowed to resume U.S.-based operations. The document is 40 pages long with major guidelines including:

• providing a plan that will keep ships ’crews safe and healthy

• conducting a “simulated voyage” to test the ability of the cruise line to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 on its ships

• certification that ships meet all the requirements in the conditional sail order

With vaccine rollout going according to plan in most of the U.S., Gov. DeSantis, among others, believe the rules may be outdated and need to reflect the progress in both understandings and fighting the COVID-19 virus.

The CDC has not yet released any comments in response to Gov. DeSantis’ threat.

United Airlines Invests in Supersonic Airplanes That Will Cut Flight Times in Half.

United Airlines may soon have the fastest fleet in the sky with its newest investment in supersonic planes that can fly at speeds up to 1,300 mph — that’s twice the rate of today’s fastest passenger airliners

Last week, United Airlines signed a commercial agreement with aerospace company Boom Supersonic to purchase 15 ‘Overture’ planes. As part of the agreement, United will also have the option to buy an additional 35 jets.

According to Travel+Leisure, these futuristic planes will cut the flying time on some routes by half. Flying from Newark to Frankfurt, for example, could take four hours as opposed to the usual seven-hour trip, while a San Francisco to Tokyo flight could be reduced from over 10 hours to just six.

“United continues on its trajectory to build a more innovative, sustainable airline, and today’s advancements in technology are making it more viable for that to include supersonic planes. Boom’s vision for the future of commercial aviation, combined with the industry’s most robust route network in the world, will give business and leisure travelers access to a stellar flight experience,” United CEO Scott Kirby said in a statement. “Our mission has always been about connecting people, and now working with Boom, we’ll be able to do that on an even greater scale.”

Beyond being super fast, the Overture aircraft are also more eco-friendly than the average plane currently operating in the skies. These supersonic planes are expected to be net-zero carbon and fly on 100% sustainable aviation fuel, Travel+Leisure reports.

“United and Boom share a common purpose — to unite the world safely and sustainably,” Blake Scholl, Boom Supersonic founder, and CEO said in a statement. “At speeds twice as fast, United passengers will experience all the advantages of a life lived in person, from deeper, more productive business relationships to longer, more relaxing vacations to far-off destinations.”

Boom Supersonic is currently working to bring the Overture planes up to safety and operating standards. The company is expected to deliver the aircraft to United Airlines in 2026 to carry passengers by 2029.

Broward Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie: Another Victim Claimed By MSDHS Shooting.

(Fort Lauderdale, Florida)

Robert Runcie, Superintendent of Broward Public Schools Caught Up In The Middle: Put Back In His Place.

For families of school shooting victims, the National Rifle Association is too massive and hard to take on, so some victims go after the easy targets. In Broward County, Superintendent of Public Schools, Robert Runcie, has found out that it’s easier for slave patrol agents to pick up their usual suspects, castigate and castrate them.

On April 21, 2021, agents of Republican Governor Ron Desantis swooped down on Broward County Superintendent of Public Schools Robert Runcie and arrested him on a single charge of perjury. Also arrested with Runcie was General Counsel for Broward Public Schools Barbara Myrick.

Runcie and Myrick’s arrest came on the heels of a recommendation from a partisan grand jury (that some in the black community liken to a pool of Grand Wizards. The same grand jury was convened under pressure from angry parents of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, which an MSDHS student Nikolas Cruz carried out.

Governor Ron DeSantis accused Runcie of lying to the pool about the ongoing corruption investigation of piggyback contracts. In contrast, 72-year-old Ms. Myric has been accused of revealing sensitive information to Runcie about the grand jury investigation.

The European Union May Welcome Fully Vaccinated U.S. Tourists As Early As This Summer.

As other countries have slowly made moves to welcome U.S. travelers, the European Union —except a handful of countries— has largely stayed out of the discussion. Until now.

Speaking with The New York Times in a Sunday interview, the European Commission president said the continent is looking at opening its doors to fully vaccinated Americans as early as this summer.

“The Americans, as far as I can see, use European Medicines Agency-approved vaccines,” said Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission. “This will enable free movement and the travel to the European Union…Because one thing is clear: All 27 member states will accept, unconditionally, all those who are vaccinated with vaccines that E.M.A approves.”

As of right now, those E.M.A.-approved vaccines include the three that are currently available throughout the U.S.: Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, and Johnson & Johnson.

Though von der Leyen seemed hopeful in her interview, an exact timeline for when the E.U. will begin welcoming U.S. tourists remains unclear. It all depends “on the epidemiological situation,” she explained, adding that she sees the U.S. as making “huge progress” toward achieving herd immunity.

In the weeks leading up to von der Leyen’s interview, Iceland had already announced that it would allow vaccinated travelers from non-E.U. At the same time, Greece plans to welcome international tourists, including Americans, to visit, starting on May 15. Croatia, which for many months was the only E.U. country to accept U.S. visitors, recently eliminated its pre-arrival testing requirement for fully vaccinated travelers.

According to reporting from Travel+Leisure, the European Union has been exploring the possibility of creating a vaccine passport system with the U.S. In the meantime, it’s possible that a low-tech solution will be put in place until a digital version becomes available.

Dr. David Fowler Ran Afoul of Reason, Reality: Derek Chauvin’s Quack

0

Apartheid Doctor.

Born and bread at the inception and height of South Africa’ Apartheid era, David Fowler fled his homeland of South Africa in 1991, just a little over a year after Nelson Mandela February 11, 1990 release from Apartheid/”apartness” captivity/prison.

With the anti-Apartheid movement leader’s release after serving 27 years in prison, many white separatists began to flee the country. Some of those South Afrikaans entered the United States and continued their treasurous and racist practice — covertly.

Strict American rules, laws, and watchful eyes somewhat helped to curtail David Fowler from becoming a twenty-first-century Dr. Josef Mengele here in America. David Fowler was once Maryland’s chief medical examiner. Dr. David Fowler is a forensic pathological liar.  The Fowler, who testified on Wednesday in Derek Chauvin’s murder trial, has an ax to grind. Fowler is himself being sued by the family of a 19-year-old dead man Anton Black — a victim of the police in Maryland. The case is a mirror image of George Floyd’s killing by Chauvin. David Fowler is accused of a cover-up in Anton Black’s murder case as well.

Anton Black: David Fowler accused of cover-up in his death
G. Floyd: David Fowler attempts to cover-up his killing

In addressing Anton Black’s killing and David Fowler’s attempts to cover up his death, the American Civil Liberty Union called Black’s death “a clear example of how white supremacy functions to deny accountability for misconduct and racial bias.” David Fowler’s appearance in George Floyd’s death is his way of using one stone to kill two birds. If he can justify Floyd’s murder, he should get away with his cover-up in Anton Black’s death.

According to the law suit  filed against David Fowler’s cover-up, “The officers forced Anton into a prone position so that his face, chest, and stomach were pressed to the ground, and Chief [Gary] Manos laid across Anton’s back, using his entire body weight to hold him down and pin him to the ground.”

“Chief Manos, who is much larger than Anton was, would remain with his weight atop Anton’s slight, 159-pound body for the next six minutes or more, even when Anton stopped moving, and even with the other men further restraining him in additional ways, such as by holding his legs.” Clearly Dr David Apartheid Fowler thinks that the lives of Black people don’t matter and they (Black people) ought to be slaughtered with impunity.

Barry Brodd: Madman For The Defense, Your Honor.

This Idiot (Barry Brodd) is allowed to train new police recruits. Therein lies a part of the problem.

He came to court wearing a suit and necktie. At first glance, one would think that he was a sane person. But as soon as he opened his mouth and began to speak, it became abundantly clear that Barry Brodd is the missing idiot that all villages have chased out of town. In his attempt to convince the jury that George Floyd deserved to be choked for nine minutes and twenty-nine seconds to death — Brood told the jury that “I felt that Derek Chauvin’s action was justified” (in killing George Floyd).

Brood, the dangerous Village Idiot, continued his testimony. ” He (Chauvin) was acting with objective reasonableness. Chauvin he said was following Minneapolis Police Department’s policy and current standard with law enforcement in his interaction with Mr. Floyd.” Which in this case would be to go around choking people nine minutes and twenty nine seconds death. Well, if that is the policy of the Minneapolis Pd’s, then America, we got a problem.

Nicole McKenzie Idiot Number Three

The defense also tried to bolster the testimony of Madman (Barry Brodd) from woozy land with testimony from a woman who appears to be a crackhead, as well as with testimonies from a hostile witness — current Minneapolis police officer and a cohort of Derek Chauvin, Nicole McKenzie. Chauvin trained McKenzie for a day they hung out together. Therein lies another problem.  The prosecution failed to label McKenzie as a hostile witness.

CNN’s legal commentator Bakari Sellers lamented that the Defense seemed to be outmatched financially by the Prosecution. The Defense team isn’t outmatched financially by the Prosecution team – the Defense is outdone with pedigree. They (the Defense) have no pedigree. But they do have more than a million dollars to spend from the police funds and perhaps millions more from the KKK, who always give generously to the defense funds of those who are accused of murdering Black Americans.
